Coasting at work? Here Are 5 Steps to Get Unstuck

Feeling stuck at work?

Do you feel like you have hit a plateau?

We’ve all been there…

Whether you feel there is no room left to grow in your company or you feel stuck with a big project, you can climb out of the rut – fast.

Here are 5 simple steps to get unstuck:

Step #1: Eat That Frog

Think about the task or project you are currently avoiding at work. Maybe you’re dreading preparing that monthly report. Or perhaps there’s a project that you have fallen so far behind on that you simply can’t bring yourself to face it.

When you avoid a task or assignment, it drains your vital energy and you can’t be as productive as you would like.

So what can you do?

Commit to beginning your day tomorrow with your least favorite task. By starting your day with a “win”, you create the momentum you need to tackle the other tasks on your to-do list.

#2 Structure Your Day

The average employee receives 121 emails a day. This influx of messages in your inbox can be disastrous for your productivity. So instead of responding to emails as they come, allocate 2 or 3 time slots in the day for email activities.

By simply structuring your day, you regain control over your time. Once you have achieved greater control over your day, you have much more clarity to make better decisions.

#3 Think Bigger Than Yourself

When you feel unmotivated or unwilling to take action on a project or assignment, it’s likely that you’re only looking at what is directly in front of you. In order to be a 6-figure professional, you have to look beyond that. You must attach yourself to something greater than yourself.

So ask yourself, how does this project serve a higher purpose? Who is it going to help? And what more can you offer to make a massive impact?

This outside-of-self thinking will propel you past the inertia and frustration of the boring tasks and make you feel much more motivated and excited to drive the project forward.

#4 Widen Your Skills

Personal development is key to creating the forward momentum you need to move past the “rut” and get unstuck.

You can take classes, get a coach or a mentor to get to your sweet spot. Even if the only opportunities within reach represent horizontal growth, it will still give you the chance to learn something new so that vertical growth becomes that much more possible.

#5 Stay On Top Of Your Game By Expanding Your Network

There is little more powerful than joining a networking group or mastermind of like-minded people to help support you on your goals. Masterminds have been scientifically-proven to raise the prospects of its members simply by the collective guidance, tips and valuable contacts that you have access to.
